Retaining Wall Design

Geotechnical Consulting & Testing (GC&T) provides services in the designing of retaining wall systems. Our service provides a full analysis of local and global stability. We also provide the preparation of specifications and construction details suitable for permit acquisition and construction of the following types of retaining walls:

• Cast-in-place concrete cantilever walls.
• Modular segmental block retaining walls reinforced with geogrids.
• Gravity walls.
• Design of cut-off walls (caissons) for slope stability.

Pressuremeter Testing

This method reduces sample disturbance and increases the accuracy of test information. The pressuremeter enables the development of soil parameters using an in-situ testing technique. This testing is beneficial in predicting the settlement characteristics and bearing capacities of the following:

• Residual soils.
• Existing foundations subjected to increased loads.
• Soft of fractured rock.
• Overconsolidated silts and clays.

Vibration and Blast Monitoring

Representatives of GC&T monitor vibration in order to document the level of vibration adjacent to existing structures.

We record vibration caused by blasting, pile driving, or other construction activities with a seismograph to ensure the vibration does not exceed the limit of peak particle velocity (ppv) specified for a given project.

GC&T 's representative records the following data:

• Day and time when blasting or pile driving occurs
•   Areas where blasting or pile driving took place
•   Location of the nearest structure
•   Vibration data collected by the seismograph
•   Air blast level during blasting
